About UCC
University College Cork has an array of facilities, including the Boole library. One of the most interesting facilities the Boole library has to offer is the Special Collections department. Not many people are aware that the Special Collections is a facility that exists within the UCC Boole library. It is a rare gem which houses many unique artefacts including the Henebery wax cylinders, Sean O’Riada manuscripts, Thomas Moore scores etc. These items are stored in a room with a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and must be handled with great care. The members of staff who run the Special Collections are very proud and dedicated to the their work. They search for new artefacts constantly, to add to the collection and enjoy educating the public on what the Special Collections has to offer. Exhibitions are regularly held in the main entrance of the Boole library.

Another key element in the Boole library is the Blackstone LaunchPad “Creative Zone”. This zone of the library was opened on March 3rd 2016. The aim of this zone was to give students a space to be creative and to facilitate upcoming entrepreneurs in a motivating environment. The professionals working in Blackstone LaunchPad helped us to produce and promote this website for our project. The support was vital to progression of this project and helped us gain confidence in our endeavours.
